England, Surrey Overview

Explore this region's wine industry at England's largest vineyard, learn about grape cultivation, the wine-making process — and sample some of Surrey's best wine. Among other things, visitors to Surrey will delight in shopping at Kingston Market and wandering the captivating grounds at Wisley Gardens.

Surrey is less than a 30 minute drive from Central London and you can be in the countryside, picturesque, villages in Shere, with wood beamed pubs, and an abundance of parks and gardens. like Painshill Park, Loseley Park and of course the famous Hampton Court.

Surrey is home to golfing gems such as Wentworth Golf Club, Walton Heath and Sunningdale, where legendary golfers have played for decades. The local landscape of native heather and towering trees plays challenging host to a number of scenic course designs throughout the county.

Enjoy a day at the horse races, Surrey has a number of well known racecourses including Epsom, Sandown Park and Lingfield Park.

Another don't miss town is Richmond upon Thames, great shopping, pubs and restaurants. Enjoy a meal at The Cricketers pub overlooking the village green or the quaint Old Ship Inn on the mail street, take a stroll along the river and maybe hire a boat for the afternoon.

I spent many happy years in Surrey growing up after leaving the Wimbledon area, if you get a chance to spend a few days in countryside try a night or two at one of the wonderful hotels we recommend in the section.
