Wetlands Center

A London attraction with a difference, the London Wetlands Centre is a tranquil haven for many birds and wildlife. This site of Special Scientific Interest is also an international award-winning attraction and an urban oasis. The 43 hectare site has many lakes, ponds and marshes to be explored along the 3.4km of pathways. View the feathered visitors on CCTV links from the Visitor Center, from the viewing observatory or get a better look from the specially built hides around the reserve. Binoculars are a great asset to bring. See curlew, greenshanks, sandpipers, swifts and warblers as well as many birds of prey. Rare osprey, buzzards and peregrine falcons may make an appearance.
The London Wetlands Centre is also home to three species of bat as well as frogs, foxes, butterflies, water voles and ducks. Whatever wildlife you may see, it is also a great opportunity for a refreshing walk, enjoying some fresh air and exercise on the banks of the River Thames. The Centre includes a restaurant, gift shop and a cinema.
